Justice minster Cde Ziyambi Ziyambi has confirmed what citizens already suspected, that the the Constitution is on standby mode until President Emmerson Mnangagwa returns from leave, fully rested and ready to tamper.
According to Ziyambi, the wheels of the “2030 agenda” will start spinning the moment the self-styled “constitutionalist” clocks back in.
Apparently, constitutional violations require fresh batteries.
Once Trabablas is done with his annual recharge, constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 will be rushed to cabinet, gazetted, and gently strangled into law.
All very legal, allegedly of course.
ZANU PF, to its credit, always keeps its promises, especially the illegal ones.
Resolution Number 1, first teased last Christmas like a bad gift that keeps giving, is now pencilled in for fast-tracking by 2026.
Unlike the mythical two million jobs, this promise is being delivered with well oiled and resourced precision.
Every plug is being pulled to ensure Mnangagwa secures a global record in geriatric governance.
Despite repeatedly swearing he will retire at the end of his second term, Cde Trabablas continues to signal right while making a sharp U-turn left.
The honeymoon with corruption cartels must not end abruptly.
Zimbabwe now waits, again at a familiar crossroads.
Overhead, a dark cloud hover, labelled “2013 Constitution:
Handle With Scissors.
Will Zvigananda’s slow dance with the nation’s minerals continue?
Will Zimbabweans rediscover the courage they once used on Ian Smith and Robert Mugabe?
A new resistance outfit, the Constitutional Defenders Forum, has emerged in Harare.
Whether it becomes a vehicle for change or just another parked car remains to be seen.
For now, the Constitution sweats nervously.
Only time will tell.
