The poverty-stricken community of Glenview South – with potholed roads, raw sewage problems, and no running tap water – expressed gratitude to the very system responsible for their suffering by voting for the ruling party candidate, Tsitsi Tawomhera, in a by-election held over the weekend.

Tawomhera won by 3,404 votes, with his nearest challenger, Tonderai Chakaredza, getting only 993 votes.

It took just US$200,000, several boreholes, solar systems, food hampers, and road rehabilitation promised by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s latest frontman, Paul Tungwarara, to corrupt the suffering people of Glenview South into voting for a party that is responsible for their suffering.

The Glenview voters, in their wisdom, chose boreholes in the city instead of demanding clean, potable, and safe drinking water from the ZANU-PF government that is mandated by the Constitution to guarantee the right to water.

Forget about ZEC’s rules against vote-buying – rules do not apply when it comes to ZANU-PF.

The opposition CCC, led by President Welshman Ncube and Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu, chose not to participate in the by-election as they are busy fighting for spoils of the Political Parties Finance Act money.

Why contest in a by-election when in agreement with ZANU-PF and President Mnangagwa?

“If the people of Zimbabwe want President Mnangagwa to continue until 2030, so be it.” Those were the words of a happy Sengezo Tshabangu at that Precabe Farm meeting.

Credit to Cde Tshabangu and his crew – they have successfully crippled the opposition.

Cde. Tshabangu has taken selling out to a new level that makes even the biggest sellout in Zimbabwean liberation war history, Morris Nyathi, a quisling by comparison.
