Munhumutapa, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is highly committed to address the issue of Gukurahundi disturbances. The President who was the Minister of State during the Gukurahundi moment of madness has unlike his predecessor, Robert Mugabe already set up a committee to spearhead Gukurahundi hearings.
Gukurahundi hearings however are yet to commence as the government is seized with other critical issues. While the issue is of importance, the government of late was pressed with more important issues such as Munhumutapa Day where millions were spent to celebrate President Mnangagwa’s birthday.
Gukurahundi also pales when it comes to the issue of royal rides and as such the government had to prioritize buying of chiefs cars that costed in excess of US$16 million. After all chiefs play critical role in command voting to safe guard our country from Western sponsored opposition.
The Second Republic has also been busy with critical projects like the Zimbabwe Pavillion, SADC villas and Liberation Museum construction. Surely these are more important than hearings for killings of just over 20 000 dissidents who wanted to remove a constitutionally elected government. Besides, the First Lady, Auxilia Mnangagwa is already doing national healing work through her Angel of Hope Foundation’s Nhanga/Gota/ Ixhiba Programme
