Political commentator and full-time whistleblower Jealousy Mawarire has gone full-blaze on Zimbabwe’s new ruling class of emergency profiteers, declaring that “Tenderprenuers” are behind the weekend inferno that razed parts of Harare Hospital over the weekend.
“I want you Tenderprenuers are the cause of these fires, period! We all know this, don’t we?” thundered Mawarire in a social media post that crackled hotter than the actual fire.
The blaze, which tore through the nurses’ residence, a storeroom hovering over a female ward, the theatre, and ICU, has not just left the public health sector gasping for air.
While everyone was gutted about the inferno and its impact on the healthcare system the inferno however, reportedly lit a heavenly fire under the feet of one man Tempter Paul Tungwarara.
Yes, the ever-controversial “special presidential advisor”Tungwarara is the proud owner of a digital ghost-town called Prevail International Group of Companies, a business so new its website domain was registered just in January 2025, around the same time most people were breaking their resolutions.
But despite its infant status and digital-only presence, Prevail International is currently prevailing all over the ministry of health’s books as the chosen messiah to refurbish Zimbabwean hospitals, without so much as a tender notice, a quotation, or a decent PowerPoint presentation.
Analysts now say the Harare Hospital inferno simply means ka-ching! for Tungwarara and his hospital-rescuing empire.
With no competitors and all roads leading to Prevail, insiders say Tungwarara reportedly smiled so hard upon hearing the news that his cheeks flushed with what some described as “pure Chigananda anointing.
“He was seen ordering new suits and iPhones before the ashes even cooled,” one observer whispered, ducking smoke.
If this sounds familiar, it’s because it is. In October 2024, flames danced through Mbare Musika, and Masimba Holdings landed a juicy US$200,000 contract to rebuild the market without going through the tender process.
Tungwarara will definitely be laughing all the way to the bank with a hefty multi-million payout from a fire allegedly engineered by Zviganandas.
