Last week, the government announced a new land policy where beneficiaries of the land program can now sell or transfer their land. This a major step in the right direction by the Second Republic that is going to benefit farmers who grabbed vast tracts of land from white farmers but are failing to utilize the land.
Indeed most of liberation war heroes and their families will now benefit from their liberation war sacrifices.
Imagine the Mugabe family selling more than 300 hectares of land they got for free during the land reform? This is what we mean when we talk about total empowerment of our people.
Indigenous farmers like Munhumutapa President ED Mnangagwa and most of ruling party stalwarts like Cde Christopher Mutsvangwa, Cde Obert Mpofu, Cde Oppah Muchinguri, Cde Patrick Chinamasa, Cde Kembo Mohadi and Cde Constantino Chiwenga can now make millions from the land acquired during the 3rd Chimurenga.
The liberation war was about addressing land disparities and this new land tunure announced by government seeks to address that. Where we used to have land in the hands of a few white colonialists now it will be in the hands of our liberators. Unlike the Willing Buyer Willing Seller agreement of the Lancaster House Conference, the New Dispensation has come up with the new Willing Seller Willing Buyer policy. Under the New Dispensation, every citizen has the right to own land as long as they have money to buy it.
Of course entrepreneurs like Wicknell Chivhayo and indigenous business moguls like Kuda Tagwirei can now end up owning half of the country.
