Ungrateful residents of Chegutu Rural District Council Ward 3 on Saturday somehow voted for an independent candidate, Tawanda Sibanda ahead of ZANU PF candidate, Makofi Mahwinei.

Mahwinei whose Shona name loosely translate to “what have you won” could only garner 472 votes as compared to Sibanda’s 613 votes despite ‘buying’ the villagers with rice and opaque beer.

Clearly the “persuaders” have not done enough to sell the 2030 agenda in Chegutu otherwise there is no way an independent candidate could have won against a candidate from revolutionary party led by our beloved President, Ruka Chivende.

Or maybe Mahwinei is just a victim of his surname and villagers in Ward 3 might be now asking him what his ZANU PF party has won despite its investment in vote buying and intimidation over the years.

Chegutu villagers somehow turned their back on a party that has invested heavily in making our roads have world class potholes and unmatched corruption.

What a way to thank President Ruka Chivende who made sure Zimbabwe is ranked among the worst corrupt countries on the planet.
