President Emmerson Mnangagwa has confirmed a foreign policy shift by the Second Republic.

Responding to a question by journalist Tucker Carlson at the recent World Governments Summit in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Cde Ruka Chivende bluntly said the country’s foreign policy is now rooted in “pleasing ourselves”.

Forget the all-weather rhetoric.

Cde Ruka Chivende confirmed that Zimbabwe’s dealings with China are about the pursuit of pleasure.

But how is the Second Republic “pleasing” itself in its engagement with China?

Is it by granting mining rights at Christmas Pass and Boterekwa?

Is granting mining rights to Chinese firms on rivers and in national parks part of this “pleasing ourselves” policy, as stated by Cde Trabablas?

Like a dealer, Cde Ruka Chivende confirmed a departure from Cde Robert Mugabe’s Look East Policy.

It is no longer about principle or policy, it’s

about a better deal.

Zimbabwe is open for business and the highest bidder can loot the country’s resources, as long as Cde Ruka Chivende is pleased.

Forget ZANU PF as a socialist party, that is now a thing of the past under Cde Ruka Chivende.

Who cares what happens in Venezuela amid this shift in ideology and foreign policy?

Zimbabwe would rather lift tariffs on American products than remove visa requirements for Africans to enable free movement.
