The story of the duo of Mike Chimombe and his accomplice Mpofu is a reminder of the need to stick to official secrecy if you have access to the high table of Munhumutapa. Munhumutapa is a generous leader who rewards all cadres loyal to the ruling ZANU PF party. The High Priest of the land however frowns on those who fail to protect deals secured from the high office.
The naivety of Chimombe and Mpofu is beyond shocking, the two leaked critical documents that could harm national interests in the vain hope of coercing the obedient Son Wicknell Chivhayo to release more funds from a Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, ZEC deal. Western Media picked the scent from the leaked documents and released damning evidence to the Republic. Reports of inflating procurement figures with over 30 000% are a serious cause of concern as they can lead to alarm and despondency among the masses of our people. Chimombe and Mpofu have to pay for that grave sin. It is impossible for the Munhumutapa to go public explaining to the nation how the money was spent.
Chimombe and his accomplice naively assumed that Chivayo blew all the money, that’s not true at all. In his wisdom the Head of State facilitated this deal to ensure that all those involved in the election process got some motivation to protect the vote from going in favor of the Western Sponsored opposition. Isaac Moyo and his Central Intelligence team got a fair share for their efforts as they were also the brains and muscle behind the game changing Forever Associates Zimbabwe, FAZ. No one can dispute that FAZ played a critical role in defending the vote from foreign interests.
The ZEC team led by the able Priscilla Chigumba also deserved a share from the loot. Zimbabweans should recall how ZEC has defended the gains of the liberation struggle in the last 2 elections. In 2018 they had to secure last minute votes in Mashonaland Central, in a manner that forced the opposition to petition the revolutionary courts seeking recourse. The courts were equal to the task throwing out the petition with the contempt it deserved. In the August 2023 elections the ZEC made a more daring step refusing to release the figures from individual polling stations.
The opposition was deflated and never recovered. So rewarding this ZEC team was mandatory and Mpofu and Chimombe should have known better. Chief Secretary Martin Rushwaya handled the other payments which should remain confidential to protect national interests. Scott Sakupwanya whose company was used to facilitate this deal of national importance never complained because he is now a veteran. Sakupwanya has handled bigger deals for the nation on behalf of the Munhumutapa. He doesn’t receive all that is due to him but he knows that the President knows better.
Chimombe was obviously influenced by his Uncle Chiyangwa who still harbor some ambitions of restoring the now vanquished Zezuru supremacy. Those remnants of the G40 cabal should be reminded that Munhumutapa will rule to his grave and will leave the Karanga ethnic group firmly in charge. As Mpofu and Chimombe wallow in prison for the botched goat deals, they should be reminded never to spill the beans on how much of the money was pocketed by Munhumutapa. They will not make it out of those cages if they play with fire.
Meanwhile Chivhayo and Sakupwanya are set to win more tenders as they have proven their loyalty to the national cause without any doubt. Chivayo has since deployed proceeds from the ZEC deal and ZESA lawsuit to buy vehicles for artists and other loyal cadres of the party. This is a demonstration of patriotism deserving recognition. Michael Reza of ZACC who made a lot of misdirected noise when the ZEC deal came to light has now been fully briefed and has since moved on to other cases. ZACC should focus on serious issues like paid extra lessons by teachers. The people are being fleeced in broad daylight by lazy teachers. ZEC deal is officially closed.
