Highlanders supporters, never ones to shy away from mixing football with fierce political commentary, turned up the heat again on Sunday—but this time, their target wasn’t CAPS United or even ZANU PF.

Instead, the fiery chants ringing out from the Soweto stand were aimed squarely at Blessed “Bombshell” Geza, the war veteran-turned-fugitive who has gone curiously quiet.

As Bosso edged out bitter rivals CAPS United 1-0—thanks to a 4th-minute screamer from Reason Sibanda—fans were less interested in the scoreboard and more concerned with the sudden silence of their unlikely political ‘hero.’

Chants of “Sethule uGeza, Besithembe yena uGeza” (Geza is now silent, we had pinned our hopes on Geza) echoed through Barbourfields like a call to arms—or at least a solid X thread.

Geza, once the loudest voice calling for President Mnangagwa’s impeachment and boldly accusing him of corruption, has been quieter than a CCC press release.

His once-viral video rants now seem are slowly becoming relics of a forgotten revolution, leaving fans who turned to him for hope feeling abandoned.

If that wasn’t enough, the crowd took it further, belting out “Ligama Shona, Heya, babebulala obaba,” in a chilling nod to the Gukurahundi massacres—because in Bulawayo, even match day is a reminder that history has a whistle that never stops blowing.

Rumour has it the Ruka Chivende administration, in a brilliant twist of banana republic strategy, has been handing out land like party favours to silence critics—across both ZANU PF and CCC aisles.

So, as Reason Sibanda netted the game-winner, Bosso fans were scoring their own goals—against silence, betrayal, and political amnesia.

The question remains: where is Blessed Geza, and did someone trade his voice for a piece of land in Mazowe?
